Children are accepted from 2 1/2 in pre-school classes which consist of a mixture of ballet, mime and free movement, from there the children move to a preparatory or pre-primary class in ballet, which becomes more structured and leads to the first simple examinations and then progress to RAD examinations which include ballet, free movement and character work giving pupils a taste of different classical styles.
From the age of 4, preparatory jazz and tap classes are also available and can be followed into the examination syllabus at about 5 years. Both classes are fun and provide good exercise whilst encouraging musicality and performance skills.
Pupils can start at any age and can be slotted into suitable classes; many teenagers enjoy street jazz classes and then decide to try other dance forms.
Please note that whilst most classes remain the same senior class can change subject to demand.
Pupils are expected to be correctly dressed for class with hair tied back off the face, jewellery should not be worn, and small stud earrings only are acceptable in class.
All uniform can be purchased through the school at discount prices, including the new RAD uniform currently being introduced in the lower grades. Chewing Gum is not permitted during class.
